Emma
Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson who were both lawyers. In her early years she attended the Dragon School in Oxfordshire. From the age of six Emma knew that she wanted to be an actress. For a number of years she studied at the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theatre school in which she was taught the art of acting and dancing. Her performances had been in several Stagecoach as well as school plays before she was 10 years old. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the movie version of J.K. Rowling's bestselling British novel began casting in 1999. Casting agents discovered Emma via her Oxford theatre instructor. David Heyman informed Emma, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint after 8 auditions. They were cast as three leads Hermione Gringer Harry Potter Ron Weasley. The release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's first cinematic screen appearance. It was the highest-grossing film of 2001, the film set records for its debut day sales as well as the opening weekend's earnings. Critics were impressed with the performance of the film as well as its story. The Daily Telegraph, a widely read British newspaper, was awed by her for her outstanding performance. Emma's performance was recognized and later won awards for the film.
